(Read on for more info. on what mindfulness is all about):
Do you feel that stress is a major element in your life? Do you often feel pulled in many directions at once? Are critical thoughts about yourself increasing your anxiety, and getting in the way of you achieving your goals?
Stress is a part of everyone's daily life, but it doesn’t have to run your life.
Mindfulness is a skill we can incorporate into nearly every aspect of our daily life to cope with stress, help us see our lives more clearly, and make the kind of conscious choices that are more self-affirming and supportive of our physical and mental well-being.
As LGBTQ individuals we may not always be accepted by others, but we can certainly work to accept and be kind to ourselves.
This summer Mazzoni Center presents a four-week course in Mindfulness - or as instructor Bob Pileggi describes it: "a Journey of Knowing and Changing Your Life."
You'll learn powerful mindfulness skills to help see your life more clearly, cope with stresses, and learn to focus on thoughts and behaviors that increase self-acceptance and well-being.
In each session you will:
• Learn a mindfulness technique
• Discuss ways to incorporate it into daily life
• Explore what stresses us as LGBT people and how we can cope using mindfulness.
And throughout the four week session you'll learn about creating supportive community, and building a practice of mindfulness in your daily life.
In addition to time spent in class, you'll get access to MP3 recordings to support individual practice in your own time.
Come experience for yourself how simple mindfulness can be, and how powerful it is to help us reduce stress so that we can be fully ourselves!
