Mazzoni Center’s Legal Services Department provides direct legal assistance to low-income lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals in a wide range of areas, including:

-elder issues
-employment discrimination/harassment
-family law/parenting issues
-name changes for transgender individuals
-relationship recognition & dissolution
-wills/powers of attorney
-youth concerns.

We also represent individuals in cases which may have an impact on the status of LGBT rights within Pennsylvania.  We can provide expert assistance in the complex legal matters that affect LGBT individuals due to their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

If we are unable to provide representation in a particular matter, we have an extensive cooperating attorney network of LGBT-sensitive counsel that can assist individuals with their unique legal issues.

We also provide “self-help” materials to assist LGBT individuals without the need for formal legal representation.  Several of our most frequently requested documents, including our guide to changing your name in Pennsylvania, have been posted to the resources section of our website.
