Whole Foods will donate 5% of proceeds to Mazzoni Center on January 12
On Thursday, January 12, 2012, your grocery dollars will buy more than pantry staples for your home. Philadelphia's two Whole Foods Market locations, Callowhill and South Street, will be donating 5% of their net profits from the day towards Mazzoni Center’s food bank, known as Vivian’s Cupboard.
Since 1989 Mazzoni Center has provided free nutritious food for low income individuals and their families living with HIV/AIDS through Vivian's Cupboard. Clients may access the food bank, which is located at 21 S. 12th Street, two times per month, and receive the equivalent of four meals for each member of their household upon each visit. In FY2011 Mazzoni Center distributed 40,698 meals through our food bank.
Whole Foods Market Callowhill at 2001 Pennsylvania Ave, located next to the Art Museum is open from 8am to 10pm. Whole Foods Market South Street, located at 929 South Street, is open from 8 am to 10 pm. Mazzoni Center staff will be in the store between 4pm and 6:30pm on 1/12 to answer your questions and explain the Vivian’s Cupboard project.
Please spread the word and stop by to pick up some groceries and say hello!
